I find no peace and all my war is done; My galley charged with forgetfulness Through sharp seas, in winter night doth pass
A rain of tears, a cloud of dark disdain Farewell, Love, and all thy laws forever,
Therefore farewell -go trouble younger hearts, And in me claim no more authority
The long love that in my thought doth harbour, Love, that doth teigh and live within my thought, Loving in truth, and fain in verse my love to show,
And in my heart doth keep his residence,
And built his seat within my captive breast
That she, dear she, might take some pleasure of my pain,
Calm is the sea: the waves work less and less;
What may I do, when my master feareth,
For my lord's guilt thus faultless bide I pain
But in the field with him to live and die? Blame not my lute, for he must sound Yet from my lord shall not my foot remove:So am not I, whom love, alas, doth wring,
For good is the life ending faithfully.
Sweet is the death that taketh end by love
To live and lack the thing should rid my pain.
